Pulling a Good Joke on your Wedding Speech
Wedding speeches are one of the best parts of a wedding. It’s where guests get to meet and know more of the bride and groom through the eyes of their closest friends and relatives. But what make wedding speeches great are also their jokes. A wedding speech without a joke is lackluster. It would be plain, boring and not tolerable. Yes, people are curious of the bride and groom but being a boring story teller would just make their story not worth listening to. As the person to give their wedding speech, you have to make an effort to tell their love story in a romantic comedy way.

People who give wedding speeches should be careful on the things they wish to say and wish to keep. You have to remember that not all experiences of the bride or the groom should be told and on the same note, not all things should be kept either. You should be able to filter the information you know about the couple. I’ve made two categories to help you make the best wedding speech ever.
What your speech should not have
It is important to be reminded that not all stories are to be told. Ex-wives, ex-girlfriends, humiliating stories or their past problems (if you know any) should be kept to yourself. People don’t want to hear about their past mistakes because weddings are a new beginning for a couple. It is a start over and a correction of their past mistakes. So joking about their old dilemmas is not entertaining at all.

Also, don’t try hard too much on giving out your joke. It is best to practice your first and last lines before the wedding and practice your tone already. Sounding uncomfortable won’t give your hilarious punch lines the laugh it deserves. Other than that, don’t overdo you speech with jokes. It is still a wedding speech. Just putting jokes in will just ruin the momentum of your speech.
What your speech should have
It is best to share funny moments you know about the couple or their cute similarities. Remember that people want to hear about them, so it is best to share funny stories about them and not just random joke taglines from other weddings.
Never forget that jokes are not just words put together, the tone is also very important.
